The Ultimate Kristin Hannah Reading List: Historical Fiction, Romance, and Fan Favorites

I know it’s a good book when I can’t put it down…I am willing to stay up super late to keep reading (we’re talking reading light under the covers until 3 AM) and then I’m willing to wake up with the early sunrise to keep reading. Kristin Hannah has written over 20 novels. I haven’t read all of her books, but each one I have read has sucked me right in. Here’s the ultimate Kristin Hannah reading list and guide.
Fun fact: before becoming a full-time author, Kristin Hannah was actually a lawyer. Her early books were primarily romance novels, but around On Mystic Lake (1999), she began shifting toward more contemporary fiction with emotional, family-centered themes. Then in 2015, her breakout novel The Nightingale launched her into the world of critically acclaimed historical fiction.

What Pulls Me In:
What pulls me in? Her characters, their relationships, how their stories intertwine, the surprise satisfaction Hannah always gives us readers, and her beautiful, beautiful quotes. Here are just a few keepers:
“If I have learned anything in this long life of mine, it is this: in love, we find out who we want to be; in war, we find out who we are.” – The Nightingale
“Courage is fear you ignore.” – The Four Winds
“And maybe that was how it was supposed to be…Joy and sadness were part of the package; the trick, perhaps, was to let yourself feel all of it, but to hold on to the joy just a little more tightly…” – Winter Garden
“Women can be heroes.” – The Women
“You don’t stop loving a person when they’re hurt. You get stronger so they can lean on you.” – The Great Alone
