Fun Easter Children’s Books
Easter Parade written by Irving Berlin and Illustrated by Lisa McCue

A darling illustrated version of Irving Berlin’s Easter Parade song where a cute little bunny and her father enjoy the Easter parade with darling hats and outfits. -Grace
The Spring Rabbit by Angela McAllister and Christopher Corr

This is one I’ll probably add to my collection. Such a sweet story. At the end of winter, a girl named Spring wakes up from her slumber in the snow. She travels through the forest and finds a little bird that’s fallen from a tree. The bird is so cold and weak that Spring can hardly hear its heartbeat, so she turns it into a rabbit with thick, soft fur to keep it warm. To show their gratitude, the birds gather eggs, which Rabbit collects in a beautiful basket. Spring tells Rabbit to give them to the children so they’ll know that Spring has arrived. -Emma
The Story of the Easter Bunny written by Katherine Tegen and illustrated by Sally Anne Lambert

A little rabbit watches an old couple paint eggs, make chocolate, and braid baskets for the village children at Easter and eventually the old couple needs help and thus the role of the Easter Bunny comes to pass. This one is absolutely darling. -Grace
The Little Rabbit by Nicola Killen

A little girl goes out to play with her stuffed bunny. She’s in for an adventure when a magical petal brings her stuffed bunny to life. Such a cute and simple one! -Emma
The Runaway Bunny written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd

Not necessarily an Easter book, but a spring book. A sweet book about a little bunny running away from his mother and a lovingly, steadfast mother who finds her child every time. “If you run away,” said his mother, “I will run after you. For you are my little bunny.” First published in 1942, this is the same writer and artist duo of Goodnight Moon. -Grace
The Biggest Easter Basket Ever by Steven Kroll

A little bunny is searching for Easter among the signs of spring in the forest. This one was cute but I wouldn’t purchase it. Just a happy borrow from your local library. -Grace
Hazel and Twig: The Lost Egg by Brenna Burns Yu

Hazel and Twig find an egg and go on an adventure to find its parents. This was a sweet spring story as well as a nice story about a positive sibling relationship. I’m always looking for those. -Emma
The Runaway Egg by Katy Hudson

A big brother is tasked to watch over his little egg. He thinks it’s going to be a breeze until his little brother decides to sprout legs and take off. This is great for preschoolers + toddlers. -Emma
Here Comes The Easter Cat by Deborah Underwood and Claudia Reuda

This one made us all giggle. A cat really wants to have a turn being the Easter Bunny. Instead of taking his job, he ends up helping him. Both a silly and sweet story. -Emma
The Easter Egg Written and Illustrated by Jan Brett

There’s a special place in my heart for Jan Brett and her beautiful and detailed illustrations. My 1st Grade teacher loved her and read all of the books to us and kindled this love for Jan Brett in me. In this story Hoppi the bunny wants to win the egg-decorating contest so the Easter Bunny will choose him to help distribute Easter eggs but instead while everyone else is working he guards an egg that has fallen from a nest. -Grace
Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson

A rabbit learns that it’s better to share than hoard all the carrots for himself. We love this one and have it in our own Easter collection. -Emma
Religious Easter Children’s Books
An Easter Egg Hunt for Jesus by Susan Jones

A sweet, faith-based picture book about Little Bunny and his forest friends as they prepare for an Easter celebration. As they search for eggs, they learn that Easter is about more than just treats—it’s a time to celebrate Jesus and His love. With charming illustrations and a gentle message, this story helps young children connect the joy of Easter with the true meaning of the holiday. -Emma
On That Easter Morning by Elena Pasquali and Alison Jay

I have loved Alison Jay’s artwork for years and this Easter book didn’t disappoint. I think I’ll be adding this one to our Easter children’s books collection this year. It beautifully retells the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection with lyrical language and stunning, crackle-glazed artwork. -Emma
The Story of Easter illustrated by Frederica Frenna

We really enjoyed this one. A simple and engaging board book that introduces young children to the biblical Easter story. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, it provides a sweet introduction to the true meaning of Easter in an age-appropriate way. -Emma
‘Twas the Season of Lent: Devotions and Stories for the Lenten and Easter Seasons written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Elena Selivanova

Here’s an example of what a page contains:
Welcome to the holy season of Lent. Do you know what Lent means? Lent is the time when we get ready for Easter. Lent is related to the word springtime. Look outside your window. Maybe it doesn’t look like spring yet. Perhaps the ground is covered with a white blanket of snow; the skies above might be gray and the trees may be bare. That’s because springtime is a waiting time…
Lent is a waiting time too. For forty days we wait for Easter to come. And as we wait, we get ready–…
This book takes you through 40 days of Lent, is beautifully written, and is a fantastic way to introduce and teach your family about Lent and Easter. -Grace
The Story of Easter by Helen Dardik

The perfect Easter beginner book. Simple words and illustrations help introduce the Easter story in such a beautiful way. -Emma
The Sparkle Egg Written by Jill Hardie and Illustrated by Christine Kornacki

Sam feels guilty after lying to his parents about a spelling test, but they teach him how an empty Easter egg decorated with jewels can symbolize accepting Jesus’s forgiveness. -Grace
Enjoy!
We hope you find one that you enjoy and can add to your own Easter children’s books collection.
