Servings: 10 sliders

Ingredients

Pork
  • 2 to 3 lb pork loin roast
  • Garlic salt
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups water
Sauce
  • 1 cup medium picante sauce
  • 3 cups Sweet Baby Ray's Original BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar start with 1/4 cup and add more to taste
  • 1 cup pork drippings reserved from the roasting pan

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 290°F. Season the pork generously with garlic salt, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the pork in a roasting pan, fat side up, and pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of the pan.
  3. Roast for about 3 hours, or until the pork is tender and cooked through.
  4. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes, then slice it as thinly as possible.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the picante sauce, BBQ sauce, ketchup, vinegar, and 1 cup of the reserved pork drippings until the vinegar is fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the sauce over the sliced pork and heat everything together in a slow cooker on low or in a covered baking dish until warmed through.
  7. Serve on Hawaiian rolls or hamburger buns with coleslaw, if desired.
