Cozy and Clean Romance Reads

If you’re a fellow Hallmark girly and have been searching for cute, clean, swoon-worthy books to listen to while walking with your newborn or doing mundane household tasks, I have found a few authors that absolutely deliver that cozy romance feel. These are the kinds of books that leave you smiling, kicking your feet a little, and immediately searching for the next one in the series. Here are four clean romance books from authors that I absolutely love:

Sarah Adams

Sarah Adams has so many books to choose from, and one thing I love is that her series are usually centered around a specific town or location, so you really get attached to the characters and setting. Out of the ones I’ve read so far, The Temporary Roomie has been my favorite.

After being forced to leave her home due to renovations, Jessie temporarily moves in with her friend’s brother… and I think you know where this is headed. It’s funny, sweet, full of tension and banter, and somehow makes fake dating and forced proximity feel fresh all over again.

Cindy Steel

I discovered Cindy Steel through The One with the Kiss Cam and holy moly — I never wanted this book to end. Nora and Duke completely stole my heart.

After the two unexpectedly end up together on the kiss cam at a Utah Jazz game, one tiny interaction turns into a connection neither of them can forget. This book gives you all the butterflies. Just pure chemistry, humor, and emotional payoff.

Denise Hunter

I’ve only barely scratched the surface of Denise Hunter’s books, but from what I’ve read, they fit perfectly into the swoony clean-romance category. My favorite so far has been Mulberry Hollow.

When a hiker falls ill and ends up under the care of the town’s doctor, Avery slowly finds herself opening her heart in ways she never expected. It has the small-town charm, emotional warmth, and gentle romance that make you want to stay in the story forever.

Katherine Center

Just like Denise Hunter’s books, I’ve only read a couple of Katherine Center’s books so far, so I am definitely no expert, but I’ve really enjoyed the ones I’ve picked up. The one that stands out the most to me is The Bodyguard.

This is your classic fake-dating story with a fun twist. Hannah, an executive protection agent, is assigned to protect celebrity actor Jack Stapleton while pretending to be his girlfriend. Will fake dating lead to real feelings? I think you know the drill. This one gave me major rom-com movie vibes in the best way.

These are just four of what I’m sure are many wonderful authors, but what I appreciate most is that their romances stay clean and closed-door while still delivering all the tension and emotional payoff. Of course, everyone’s comfort level is different, so it’s always worth doing a little sleuthing yourself before diving in.

Another thing I love is that these books are standalone stories. Even though the authors often group them into connected series, you can pick them up in any order without feeling lost. Reading in order is fun because you get to know the side characters chronologically, but as someone who has jumped around a bit, I can confidently say you won’t miss much.

If you’re looking for an easy, lighthearted listen with major Hallmark movie energy, I would absolutely start with these.
